Distracted Driving Awareness Shirt Inspired by a Coach’s Stair Ritual
This Distracted Driving Awareness Shirt turns one hard number into a reminder to keep your eyes on the road. It also honors a coach whose pregame stair climb now inspires football staffs to run for safer streets.

Front Number, Back Portrait: Distracted Driving Awareness Shirt Layout
Oversized front number: Big white digits with “PER YEAR” below grab attention before anyone reads a word.
Headset mark: A coaching headset graphic sits under the number, tying the message to football.
Back portrait: A line-art drawing of the late coach in his headset faces the crowd behind you.
Statistic line: A short sentence on distracted-driving injuries explains the number in plain words.
Black-and-white palette: High contrast keeps the print readable from stadium seats and across the street.
A 2001 Pregame Habit Still Brings football Coaches to the Stairs
Greg Knapp coached in the football for 25 seasons. He ran stadium stairs before every game he coached. In 2001, he pulled a young 49ers assistant named Dan Quinn into the routine. Quinn later worked with Knapp in San Francisco, Seattle and Atlanta. In July 2021, a distracted driver struck Knapp while he was cycling, and he died days later. His wife, Charlotte, and agent Jeff Sperbeck created The Coach Knapp Memorial Fund in his honor. The annual Knapp Stair Climb raises awareness and money to fight distracted driving. This week, Quinn, now the Commanders’ head coach, planned a memorial climb at Levi’s Stadium before facing the 49ers.
