A Campus Nickname Turned Into Rock History
Hootie & the Blowfish formed in Columbia, South Carolina, in 1986. Darius Rucker and Mark Bryan met as freshmen at the University of South Carolina. The band name grew out of two college friends’ nicknames. One wore oversized round glasses that gave him an owlish look. The other had full, puffy cheeks. That backstory explains the owl staring out from this design. The 1994 debut, Cracked Rear View, went on to earn 22-times platinum certification. The band is back in the spotlight this fall. On September 30, 2026, it announced a 30th anniversary digital deluxe edition of Fairweather Johnson. It also includes a long-sought 1996 MTV Unplugged set recorded at The Horseshoe on the university campus.

- Refund timing: money is returned to the card or account you used, normally within 5–10 business days.
